And, in any book, who doesn't want the heroine to make love to her hero in the most
romantic of places and know it means she gets to keep him forever? What heroine doesn't want to know that, after her hero rescues her she is the only one who
can, as Julia Roberts says in Pretty Woman, "rescue him right
back"?
I write the kind of stories I always loved to read, and I hope you'll love
them too. Now, or in future books wherever they are set, I hope my stories and their characters will
touch your emotions and that you'll love getting to
know them through their fun, funny, flirty, sensuous and emotional journeys!
What can I say about what February holds except, Holy Cow! This will be one of the most exciting months of my life as I watch a dream come true: the release of my first book! But, since that doesn’t happen until the end of the month, there are a lot of other exciting things happening between now and then.
One fun thing February has already brought was a 35-hour trip to Chicago. Jan and I took the impromptu car journey partly to eat as much Gino’s East of Chicago’s pizza as we could, which we managed just fine. The second, and bigger, reason to go was to get in on a book signing for Erica O’Rourke, a super lovely friend and an awesome writer whose second book, TANGLED was just released. This follows TORN and precedes BOUND – the two other volumes in an awesome YA trilogy. Erica also won her category (Young Adult) in the 2010 Golden Heart contest, the same year I won mine, so I share a special bond with her. Anyhow, check us out below at Barnes & Noble in Vernon Hills, IL. And check her out at Kensington Teen Reads. I’m so proud of her.

A lot of this month will be taken up readying copy for various blog posts that will be part of a Virtual Book Tour set up for me by Avon. I already know there’ll be a great interview with Gray Covey (the Rock Star from my book) and some secrets revealed from my youth in a post called “What I did for my favorite Rock Star.” There’ll be some other fun facts revealed, too, and I’ll have some cool giveaways.
One of my first giveaways will be a mug bearing both the image of my book cover and the recipe for hot chocolate my heroine Abby makes all through the story. It’s my first foray into designing a promo item—I’ll let you know how to get your hands on one soon.
In non-writing news I’ll be continuing my conditioning program in hopes of 1) being able to run a 5K race at the end of March—iffy because of an injury to my foot—, and 2) being able to walk 190 miles in England in June. This is a must because the reservations have been booked. I’m wondering if anyone’s ever done the Coast to Coast walk on crutches.
Valentine’s Day is a biggie, of course. I think the most romantic gift Jan and I will share this year is NO CHOCOLATE. Sob. But only because of what I said in the paragraph above. I am, however, expecting flowers!
Then, on the 28th, there will be celebrating and dancing when The Rancher and the Rock Star is officially released. I’m excited and I’m nervous. And I’ll be bugging relatives, friends, and unsuspecting people in the street to buy copies for their relatives, friends, and unsuspecting people in the street, in the hopes of selling enough to keep Avon liking me for a while J
But, whatever happens, it will be a “great game” as the lost boys say in Hook. And I wish you all your own “great games” and a very happy February!
